Inlay and Onlay Fillers What?

Inlay and Onlay ceramic fillings are a treatment option between classical filling and full crown (coating). It is the most appropriate treatment option if the tooth tissue is so damaged that it cannot be treated with classical filling methods due to caries, but has a strong tooth tissue that does not require a full crown.

When the loss of material occurs in the tooth due to caries, the first solution that is considered and applied is dental filling. However, if the caries is advanced and spreads over a wide area to distort the appearance of the tooth, inlay and onlay fillings, known as aesthetic fillings, are applied. As with the normal filling, the decaying and volume-losing parts of the tooth are prepared like porcelain veneers and completed. These porcelains are very compatible with the teeth in terms of aesthetics and are very resistant to chewing forces and are very long lasting.

How is the treatment applied?

First, all dental caries in the mouth are cleaned. Then, the concave areas, that is, the areas that restrict the lines that may prevent the measurement and the production of the porcelain piece, are arranged by supporting them with appropriate porcelain fillers. The precise measurement of the tooth to be filled with porcelain is taken and sent to the laboratory.

The cavity of the tooth to be filled with ceramic is closed with a temporary filling material. The precision measurement in the laboratory is prepared by the technician by pouring it with the help of sensitive plaster material. Ceramic inlay or onlay material is obtained in a laboratory environment to complete the missing tooth form. With the ready-made porcelain process, rehearsal is done in the mouth. If the porcelain fully adapts, it is adapted by the doctor with the adhesive system and integrated with the tooth. Finally, polish and polish are applied on the filling.
